E. Hille Company LLC
The E. Hille Legacy
Serving fisherman around the world. Our reputation at Angler's Supply House for providing the highest quality products in the industry continues to be fueled in spirit by the energy, ingenuity, and service of our founder, Ernest Hille, and his wife Hilda.
From his arrival in the U.S. in 1926 until his death in 1977, Ernest Hille used his God-given talents to earn a living and, in time, an international reputation among serious fly fishermen. Starting as a tool-and-die maker in Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. Hille was drawn to Central Pennsylvania, where the streams reminded him of his homeland.
Although the Hilles' homeland was pre-war Germany, they were dedicated and enthusiastic Americans from the time they set foot on our shores. During World War II, Ernest and Hilda closed their doors to civilian trade in order to supply the U.S. Government with thousands of fly-tying kits to be used in rehabilitating American serviceman. Wounded soldiers broke the stress of war and recovered their coordination by tying flies designed to lure shining trout from streams back home.
As we continue the E. Hille tradition, we think often of Ernest along a stream, fashioning a precise combination of feathers or hair to mimic whatever the fish are "jumping for"; and of Hilda, mixing the special hues that competitors tried in vain to copy. The Hilles have given us a respected tradition to uphold. We are proud to walk the path they established over the last half century.
E. Hille Company LLC, Angler's Supply House has moved as of July 1, 2008. We are now located in the Market Street South building, 218 Market Street in S. Williamsport.
